An update

I have been absent from Medium for far too long.

I survived a spring semester abroad in Portugal, and a summer working two bartending jobs in New York.

We held on after two catastrophic, back-to-back hurricanes in the fall, and barely made it past an everlasting winter semester.

Now, I’m officially ten weeks away from graduating. Five months away from moving to New York, this time to start an MFA in Creative Writing in Spanish at NYU. In every possible way, a dream come true.

This semester, I start a new bartending job in calle Loíza, a new internship at the Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña’s publishing house, and a new poetry workshop with Mayra Santos Febres.

The point of all of this is that I have about a year of updates to share. Stories from two continents and a sea, three (or more) lifetimes, and way too many pictures. Life has been a shitstorm, in so many ways. for the past 12 months, and it doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. Nonetheless, I have no more excuses not to write anymore. Procrastination is henceforth unsustainable.

And despite the clacking of the keyboard, a recent rash of good luck, and my future brimming like a geyser of salt. I can’t help but wonder: will I ever develop a consistent writing habit? Discipline is real, and most days, I just want to pack my bowl and stand on my head till dusk, why not till dawn?

But the drink orders keep popping out, the months keep shedding their layers, and the stories just keep getting better.

Wish me luck on those updates! The rest of my life depends on them!!
