St. Francis Center to Hold Tamale Fundraiser

Established more than 45 years ago, SFC provides relief from hunger to low-income families and individuals, as well as members of the homeless community in the Los Angeles area. The nonprofit organization relies heavily on volunteers to see its mission through.

One of the ways SFC helps people is through its pantry service, which gives free produce and groceries to those in Los Angeles County. Several years ago, those who used the pantry’s services wanted to express their appreciation and sought to raise funds for other programs. As a result, SFC held a tamale cook-off, and it has since become an annual tradition.

During November and December 2018, SFC holds a tamale fundraiser, where people can purchase tamales to serve at home, work, or at a holiday party. People and companies can sponsor the fundraiser and have their logo on more than 450 dozen tamale packages, on social media, and on SFC’s website.
