The Unseen Scene

I wonder as to how it would have been

Around the place where an Innocent had fallen dead.

Pictures of quarrel and mourning, I would have seen

at the place where my Saviour profusely bled.

I see the soldiers whipping and scourging my God.

Laughing on Him as He groaned after each one.

Yet another who offered vinegar to my Lord,

And some who put lots for His garments to be won.

Suddenly, my attention is driven to a man from the crowd.

He looks like a traveler by the clothes he is wearing.

They are making him to share the heavy load

of the rugged cross my Master has been bearing.

Only then did I notice the great multitude of people.

They have followed my Leader for the last five days.

Now, they stand mute and see Him limp and cripple;

On the same way they rejoiced for Him, now His body lays.

Sounds of weeping and crying fall on my ears.

There are some women wailing for my Comforter.

He shouts with agony and their eyes are filled with tears.

He speaks something, they are zapped to see Him murmur.

Now, I witness a unique and never seen disparity.

Criminals and the Most Holy hung together with audacity.

One criminal, in a desperate attempt, questions His authority.

Another one, rebukes him and submits to my King’s majesty.

There’s this old woman, crying from the very beginning

And a young man who holds her as she falls down.

Her Son is on that cross for my habit of sinning,

becoming my Redeemer with a thorny crown.

My heart pounds and my knees grow weak.

As I watch my All in all, suffering for me and you.

With a heavy, painful and shivering voice He speaks,

“Forgive them Father, for they don’t know what they do.”

Finally, I see myself standing there beside Him.

His final words made me to fall on my knees.

There, I accepted His forgiveness and started following Him

Where my Jesus gave Himself in ransom to set me free.
