How to improve search engine ranking in 2022

If you want to improve search engine ranking of your site without paying a dime then your only choice is to do SEO, its the only free way and best way to make your site more visible in Google search results.

Before I share how you can improve the search engine ranking of your site we need to know what method we are gonna use to achieve that and the method is called SEO.

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, it is a way of optimizing your site for search engines, doing this will make your content rank higher in the search results and ranking high means more traffic.

Optimizing your sites content for search engines does take some time but there is always another way of going about it and its through paid advertising, the obvious downside to paid advertising is that you spend money and most people cant afford to spend money on ads.

Paying for ads does add up leaving you with a big bill.

Even though doing SEO takes time and patience its the best way to get consistent website traffic, its also one of the best way to generate sales if you have a online store.

SEO is basically our best friend when it comes to getting traffic to your site.

There are a lot of stuff to go about when it comes to SEO, in fact SEO is such a talked about topic that there are books dedicated to SEO written by SEO experts. Today I will be sharing 4 tips for optimizing your sites content for search engines.

The first tip that I have for you is optimizing a thing called On-page SEO and Off-page SEO.

When it comes to SEO on-page and off-page SEO are considered to be one of the most if not the most important optimization you can do to your sites content.

On-Page SEO is all about optimizing your sites content by strategically adding keywords to your content that you are trying to rank for. Writing high-quality content is also considered to be on-page SEO aswell as optimizing your meta descriptions and post titles.

Off-Page SEO on the other hand refers to optimizing your content outside of your site, this means earning backlinks. Backlinks are basically websites or blogs that are linking back to your blog. This happens when other people find your content useful and they link back to you. This is also the reason why writing high quality content is important, if you have high quality content more people will find your content useful therefore they might link back to you more often.

If you are using WordPress, you can use SEO plugins to improve your On-Page-SEO.

In WordPress there are tons of SEO plugins that are available for free, here are the 2 SEO plugins that I recommend to improve search engine ranking for your site.

All-In-One SEO is a free SEO plugin that is installed on over 2,000,000 WordPress websites. When installed its SEO audit checklist will analyze your websites pages and will provide recommendations to improve your sites SEO.

Yoast SEO is another free SEO that is also very popular in WordPress. Just like All-In-one SEO it analyzes your sites pages to check if your site is optimized or not. If it isnt optimized it will then provide info on what to improve whether its your title tags, meta tags, etc.

There are more SEO plugins available like Rank Math but in my opinion the two that I mentioned earlier are the best of the best SEO plugins for WordPress sites.

People hate websites that don’t load fast enough, even I do and guess what search engines dont like it either, this can significantly hurt your sites SEO. To make your website or blog load up faster here are a couple of ways to do so.

After you activate this plugin it will automatically optimize your images by resizing and compressing them without losing the images quality.

Caching Your Web Pages is one of the most effective ways to increase your websites loading speed. Caching your web pages can help in lowering TTFB (time to first byte).

What is TTFB or Time to First Byte? Basically its a measurement of how responsive a webserver is.

So how do I cache my web pages? Well you can do it in a couple of ways and the easiest way to go about this is by using a WordPress plugin, I use a cache plugin called LiteSpeed, it comes by default when you install WordPress in Hostinger.

Deleting Unnecessary Plugins can also improve your blogs or websites loading speed.

Now this 3rd tip doesnt improve your sites SEO but it does help in fixing issues you have on your site aswell as indexing.

If you cant find your website or blog posts on Google search results it could either be, 1 your content isn’t optimized for search engines or 2 Google hasn’t indexed your site yet.

However there is one thing you need before you can request indexing in Google Search Console and its called sitemaps.

You need to submit your sites sitemaps before you can request indexing.

Sitemaps are xml files that lists the urls for your site, sitemaps are important because they inform search engines about urls on your site that can be crawled.

If you requested indexing and you get an error its most likely because you havnt submitted your sitemaps.

A new page will then load up and you will see all your sitemaps, copy them and then go to Google Search Console, in the sidebar menu locate “Sitemaps”, click on it and then paste the sitemap url and then click “Submit” and your done.

You can now request indexing in Google Search Console.

The search console packs quite a lot of features, 14 to be exact. Let me explain what each one do.

Overview, The overview page is basically just an overview of your websites performance, which shows the total amount of web search clicks your particular web page has, Index on the other hand shows all your indexed urls, then we have Experience which shows the overall usability of your website, and Enhancements basically shows what issues that you have to fix on your site.

Performance, Remember the performance section in the overview page? Basically its that but shows you all the info of your sites performance. It shows you the total clicks, total impressions, average CTR (amount of impressions that resulted in a click), and the average position your site is in the search results.

Under that it also shows the top queries, top pages, top countries that visit your site, devices that visit your site, search appearance, and dates. Dates basically shows the amount of clicks, impressions, CTR, and position on a certain day.

URL Inspection, Based from the name itself it allows you to inspect urls. When inspecting you will see a bunch of info about that particular url, if you click “Page Indexing” you will see info like which xml sitemap was used to crawl that url, when it was last crawled, what the url is crawled as, whether crawling is allowed on that url, whether page fetch is successful or not, and if indexing is allowed.

Under the Enhancements and experience section you will see some info of your urls mobile usability, and breadcrumbs.

Under the “Index” section we have.

Pages, This basically shows your indexed pages.

Sitemaps, This is pretty obvious, it shows your sitemaps.

Removals, In this page you can request a removal of a url in Google. In the removals page you will also see a page called Outdated content, this shows your outdated content obviously.

Under the “Experience” section we have.

unfortunately I cannot explain what the three features under this section because my site is brand new and it hasnt collected enough data so instead you can just go to the official search console page for info.

Under the “Enhancement” section we have basically reports on whether you have issues on your site.

I know I said there are 14 tools in the search console, the last few isnt really worth talking about because all they do is tell you if you have security issues on your site.

One thing that you will hear when it comes to SEO is to avoid duplicate content, you might hear some say that duplicated content will hurt your search rankings or your site will get penalized by Google, all that sort of stuff but in reality duplicated content isn’t as bad as they make it sound but is still something you should avoid.

Duplicated content actually doesnt get your site penalized by Google nor it doesnt make your SEO worse, well it could affect your search rankings but not as much as you think or what others make you think. Your site will still rank but it will not rank properly.

So overall just avoid duplicate content and write original content.

Never sleep on SEO, SEO is your best friend when it comes to getting traffic, sales, etc. It does take time to see the results but its totally worth it.

Overall On-Page-SEO and Off-Page-SEO are two of the most important optimizations you can do to your site. Take advantage of the SEO plugins I talked about earlier to do On-page-SEO and then your golden. Your gonna see the traffic roll in.

Anyway thats it for today, thanks for reading
