The Last Days of the Fake World

I find myself in the last days of my world, a world about which I know the same amount as everyone else, which is almost nothing. Really, the two things about this world that are self-evident to me…

4 Small Acts of Happiness That Go Unnoticed

HAPPINESS

Time flies, so fly with it.

I talked to my dad yesterday. And after a long time, I have felt such calmness in his tone that I want to check up on him more frequently.

My father is concerned about my elder brother's well-being, who is [ sorta ] banished from home, but when he saw my brother after a long time prioritising self-care, I could sense a sigh of relief when I talked to my dad on call.

The conversation ended on a special note that reminded me about similar small moments that we experience frequently, but we discount them and their happiness.

Here are four of my favourite picks.

That school friend you meet after years but feel like nothing's changed. Sometimes it can even be your parents if you stay away from home due to work reasons or lifestyle conditioning.

In my case, I rarely call my dad because men are less talkative than women.

But when I get some quality time like the one I discussed in the beginning, I take a long breath and play that memory in my head.

Music takes you into your imaginary world, where everything you see is a rhythmic game.

When I put on my writing playlist, I lose track of time because the mental cue every time is so strong that I forget how long I've been walking. That's why I set a timer.

Music while walking is a highly underrated fitness activity that leaves you energised. And if you're not listening to sad songs, it will leave you happy also. Sometimes even sad songs also leave you satisfied.

You can feel the actual benefits of a cold shower once you've overcome the mental barrier of jumping in the shower.

How strange is it that we resist going in the shower at first? But once we're in, it is so much fun that we don't wanna get out.

A cold shower is the first exciting activity in my day, which highlights,

Having a sense of humour is about not taking yourself too seriously. It makes life problems less irritating, and people feel comfortable [ and open ] around you.

The ability to laugh at yourself is a happiness hack in itself. It means you embrace the flaws you have, and that too in an entertaining way.

It is a superpower if you ask me. Not many people have it. Brownie points if you're game.

You can find many small moments like the one I mentioned in this article where simply living in the moment or even flashing the memories brings you joy.

That is the power of imagination. It helps you bridge the gap between what you're experiencing and if you can relive it.

The next time I talk to my dad or listen to music while walking, I am gonna enjoy it.

And man, I wish there was a job where I could shower all day.
